World music is a common distinct term used for recordings such as the customary or folk musicals of a society that is fashioned and played by native musicians. In the 1960s ethnomusicologist Robert E. Brown of Wesleyan University in Connecticut, created this term while he was developing an undergraduate discipline through doctoral programs.

He began a concert series in which he invited a dozen or more performers visiting from Africa and Asia to improve the learning process. This term became popular in the 1980s and was mainly used as an advertising/organizational device in the music industry and the media. It is also commonly used to categorize several kinds of Non-Western records. However, there are numerous contradictory definitions for world music and one such definition is that it is made up of sounds from all over the world; such an open explanation make the word seem almost of no value.

With the discovery of sound recording in the 20th century, regular access to universal communiqué and low priced international air travel among artists, this has increased the public interest in this type of record. Musicians from different cultures and locality could gladly access recorded songs from around the globe, seeing and hearing other musicians visiting from other ethnicity and they in turn visit other countries to showcase their own styles. Although communication knowledge allows better access to ambiguous type of music, the stress of commercialization also present the risk of escalating musical equality; the uncertainty of regional characteristics and the steady obliteration of customary local music-making practices.

A meeting was held on the 29th of June 1987 and the main objective was to look at how individuals assembled were benefiting from the promotion of these records. Before that time, this type of recording had people who were interested but it was still hard for musicians to sell their music to the larger stores. Specialist music stores had been essential in expanding the genre over years, the journalists, record companies and broadcasters had been finding it hard to build a following because the music appeared too scarce. They were aware however that classical and jazz music had increased in crossover audiences, so they decided that the best way for advancement is to have a united approach in getting these records to a wider audience.

Today world music record labels have come a long way with promotions from independent companies and is recognized all over with modern recordings adopting many of the features. Now there are even festivals being held to promote the music all over the world.

House or dance music is created with heavy electronic sounds that originated in Chicago, Illinois in the early 80s. It became popular in the mid-1980s and catered to a certain type of people mainly African-American and Latinos in Chicago and then in other cities such as New York City, New Jersey, Detroit, Los Angeles and Miami. It reached Europe before getting infused in the normal pop and dance music worldwide in the early to mid 1990s. House music records are greatly influenced by elements of soul and funk-filled varieties of disco.

The musical sounds imitates disco percussion and uses bass drum on every beat, plus it may also feature major bass line, electronic drums, electronic sound effect, funk and pop samples and delayed enhanced vocals. In the earlier years this music was highly regarded for up-tempo dancing; however by modern dance standards it is mid-tempo. The music is a successor of disco which mixed rhythm and blue funk, soul with festive messages about love, dancing and sexuality all emphasized with recurring preparations and a fixed bass drum beat. Another recognized feature is the partial editing and mixing procedure previously explored by DJs, producers and audio engineers like Tom Moulton, Jim Burgess, Walter Gibbons, Larry Levan, Ron Hardy and others who created longer, more recurring and percussive arrangements of accessible disco recordings. Similar compositions were created from scratch by earlier producers like Frankie Knuckles.

During 1984 some DJs tried to be creative and started to release original composition. One such house music record was called “Move Your Body” by Marshall Jefferson and this was instrumental to the popularity of these recordings outside of Chicago where most people referred to it as an anthem. UK recording label started releasing house music by 1986 and by the following year these songs were appearing and even topping the UK charts. Many house music records were produced in England and played in popular clubs with one of several licensed venues attracting people from all over country as they were opened until the early hours.

The music continued to develop and also introduced dub and reggae in the house sound. Many producers towards the end of the 1990s and into the 2000s began producing a new sound coming out of Paris’s house scene. On August 10, 2005 Chicago Mayor Daley declared it “House Unity Day” in celebration of “house music record 21st anniversary”. Today, it is possible to purchase copies of these records on vinyl CDs and even find downloads for MP3 if you want to start a collection.

Folk music record labels

Folk music is a term for musical legends, oral history and customs. The expression which initiated in the 19th century has been defined in many ways such as music with unknown composers; music of the lower classes and as conveying music by word of mouth. It has been compared with commercial and established styles, because it is also possible to find folk music record labels. The term has also been used to depict accepted musical sounds based on customary recordings since the middle of the 20th century.

Even though most of human prehistory and history has shown where it was not possible to listen to these recordings, these are still sought after sounds because the melodies were made by ordinary people while they were doing hard labor and also during leisure times. Manual labor most times incorporated singing by the workers, which provide several useful purposes. One of the main reasons why workers created these sweet melodies was to reduce the dullness of recurring tasks; to help them keep a good pace during synchronized push and pulls and also set the pace of many activities such as planting, reaping, weeding, threshing milling and weaving.

Despite the assembly of many songs and the amount of work done over the past two centuries, there is still no clear definition of folk songs. There were a lot of singing groups that became really famous from altering some of these songs and they transformed them into a hot product, which created a real demand. One such group was the Kingston Trio and these people spearheaded an interest in the appreciation of folk music where millions of audiences had previously ignored. The co-founder of a company named Elektra Records mention that his formerly besieged company’s prosperity in the late 1950s resulted from the group’s ability to capture the interest of many people who had not been conscious of folk songs in the past.

There are folk music record labels all over the world and some also specializes in different genre. Some labels deals with independent acoustic, roots and experimental folk, while others are responsible for keeping the best of these songs alive by dedicating their time to only producing old school, roots and labor related songs. In addition, there are labels that will showcase songs with stories of the country themselves.

Understanding the purpose of music record companys

In the music business, a record label is a product and trade name connected with the promotion of songs and videos. Usually music record companys will oversee such product and trade name, organize the creation, manufacture, marketing and advertising and implement copyright protection for videos and sound recording, maintain contract with recording artists and managers, conduct talent search and help to develop new artists.

Within the music industry, most recording artists have become increasingly dependent on music companies to expand their audience, advertise their albums. However, some artists have used the internet as a way to evade costs and get new audiences; they also use videos in several cases to sell their products.

Music record companies can be small, localized and independent (“indie”) they can also be a part of a huge international group. The four largest record companies are called major labels and might have sub-labels which trade in a different name.

Imprint is a label that is strictly a brand, but not a company and this concept is also used in the publishing industry. Although there is no legal business formation connected with it, an Imprint is occasionally marketed as being a division, unit or project of a music label. A music record company normally enters into a restricted recording contract with an artist to promote his or her recordings in exchange for royalties on the selling price of the songs or videos. Contracts may lengthen over short or long periods and may or may not refer to precise recordings. A contract can include terms to undertake the recording with the artist or for the artist to send finished recordings to the label.

The relationship between music record companies and artist can be complicated, but both parties supposedly need each other to survive. A lot of artists have had their albums changed or suppressed in some way by the labels they are contracted to before the release date; songs being edited; artwork or titles being altered and so on. At times this is done by the record labels because they believe the album will sell better with the changes. All in all, record companies are absolutely necessary for the success of any artists from even in the earlier days when technology was not so popular in this industry.

Benefits Of Getting Music Records Online

Music has been around for many decades now, even long before the Christian era. Considering this fact, it is not really surprising that this is now a medium for most people to benefit from successful business ventures. There are tons of records available around the world and with the era of computers and portable musical equipment it is possible for persons to find any kind of music records online these days. Many singers, rappers and songwriters complain about the businesses online which provide music free of cost because this is said to result in billions of dollars in losses every single year for this industry, but this could also work to the advantage of everyone.

One of the benefits of getting music records online is that one could listen to new songs from their favorite artist without waiting for the release of an album. There are a number of stores on the internet like iTunes that will offer music from any genre and they can easily be downloaded to your device. Some of the stores offer great packages, which include creating your own playlists, getting notifications about your favorite artists on your cellular phone or email; give updates when a new song is available or when all the songs you have selected have finished downloading.

Besides that, the social networking sites will also provide options for people to share songs with friends in their group or to anyone around the world. It is also possible to use file sharing software that will allow you to have access to millions of songs both old and new without much hassle. Another benefit of a file sharing software is that most of them come with chat rooms so you will be able to talk with people who have similar interests in music and will keep you updated on the newest songs that are available on the market.

Even though there are a number of benefits when you get music records online, you should take certain precautions before choosing a store. You should ensure that you are only downloading files from credible source, because you could end up with virus on your computer. In addition, you should do your research to find low cost online stores as most of the popular ones charge a high cost for songs and the only thing you are paying for is the name of the company and the advertisements they carry on the television. Once you are satisfied that you find a reputable source, you can chose to use a file sharing software or any of the other available options to get your music downloads fast.

In 1888 Emile Berliner invented a much easy way to do sound recordings with the use of round discs or music records. Even though this venture was quite successful this technology was only being marketed to toy manufacturers. His dreams of developing this device for the music record labels industry came through in 1895 when he was able to persuade a group of entrepreneurs to fund this venture. He then began marketing these disc records under the Berliner Gramophone label.

The records were not great in the earlier stages because the initial gramophones could not rotate the turntable at a steady pace, so this result in inferior sound quality. However, this was later remedied when an engineer named Eldridge R Johnson designed a motor which greatly improved the disc speed during playbacks to make them as good as cylinders.

A gramophone, also called phonograph record or vinyl records, is an analog medium used for storing sound on a flat disc inscribed with modulated spiral groove. This groove would start at the edge of the record and end near the centre. The turntable record as it was sometimes called are described by their sizes with three main formats, namely the 7 inch short turning at 45 rpm; the 10 inch long turning at 33 rpm and the 12 inch which runs at 78 rm. The time capacity or long playing of the channels provided were (Mono, “Stereo”, “Quadraphonic”, etc). Record presented enhanced performance both in playback and stamping.

During the earlier years, recordings were usually played with polished diamond styli and if played properly offered longer life. The records were advertised as unbreakable but this was not true as they were fragile, yet a lot less brittle than shellac which was normally used. It was common for disc to be tinted in black, but there were also some that was swirled, clear and red in color.

The primary medium used in commercial reproduction of recordings for the majority of the 20th century was the music records and this completely replaced the use of phonograph cylinder. The digital media which had gained a superior purchasing share in the latter part of 1980s overtook the music record and it left mainstream production in 1991, but they still continue to be made and are sold even in the 21st century.

In 2008, music records regained popularity and throughout that year almost 2.9 million units were shipped, which was the most in any time since 1998. They are used as audiophiles for many types of music and in present day they are principally being used by DJs and young adults. In 2010 these types of records continue to be used by the self-sufficient and unconventional music artist for their distribution. Most popular pop releases for music record labels tend to be sold as CDs, music albums or in some other digital formats.

Steps To Submit Music To Record Labels

When you decide to submit music to record labels or producers, it is best to do your research as there are certain procedures to follow. Almost every day, hundreds of people will send demos to producers and labels, so you want to find the most effective way for your music to stand out from the rest.

The following will provide some simple steps that you can take to protect your interest after making a submission.

1. Get permission

Before submitting music to record labels you are required to get their permission, if this is not done the materials will be discarded. The majority of the superior independent record labels will have these stipulations in place in order to protect against any lawsuits. There are times when artist will accuse labels of stealing their music and with these measures in place they will avoid these misunderstandings. Another reason for is that they generally work closely with reliable music business managers, record producers, lawyers and other sources in this industry to sift through the junk music.

2. Discover what the procedures are to submit music to record labels and follow them closely

If there are stipulations to send a certain amount of songs before they can make a decision, you should follow these instructions. If there is no limit, you can send five or seven of the best tracks and they will contact you for additional demos if necessary.

3. Place your best tracks first

Similar to all things in life, it is always best to make a good first impression and this is no different as you only have about 30 seconds to grab the listener attention.

4. Ensure that you get the correct information for the person who receives music submissions. This way your work will not be thrown out or even reach into the wrong hands.

Majority of the time, an artist will not be notified or know what happens to his material until he or she decides to use it for an album. For this reason, it is important to follow up on submissions if there is no response from the label after a certain time. You can set a “on hold status” which is normally from three to six months if you are directly solicited, this will allow you to shop your track somewhere else if the process is not moving quickly enough for you.

In the end, it will work to your advantage if you are knowledgeable about all the intricacies involved to submit music to record labels. By doing this, you can avoid instances such as a label holding your material or buying them to prevent other company or artists from using it in their recordings. Try to ensure that your music is not tied up for too long in one place.

Ways To Buy Music Records

The purchasing of music records have gotten easier with every new invention. Nowadays, you have the option to either buy music records online or go to a local record store, while in the past one would have to wait until it is available in the stores. In the olden days, it would take a long time for recordings to be produced because they weren’t equipped with all the technologies that we have today. As of such, it was expensive to purchase music in the earlier years and most people couldn’t really afford them so in order to hear songs from their favorite singers one would have to request for it to be played on the radio or visit stage shows to watch a live performance.

Even though, you can still get music from your favorite artist from radio requests and live performances it is really much easier and cheaper to buy music records to build your own music collection. These days, the production of music can be done at a much faster pace and technology advancements will allow you to know as soon as a new song or album is scheduled to be released through advertisements from the different media houses and radio stations. You can also get notifications on cellular phone or through email if you subscribe to an online music store.

Most people still wait in long lines for hours or even days just to get the newest albums from their favorite artists because it is common for some albums to be sold out soon after release. Now, because we are living in simpler times one doesn’t have to even leave their homes in order to purchase a new album as you can subscribe to special clubs and get it sent to you in a week or a couple of days. This will allow you to avoid the hassles of going to a store or even not being able to get your music from the online stores because they are overridden with multiple requests.

If you wish to buy music records of specialized genre this might prove to be complicated to source. But there are now stores designed to track and locate those special records you might need. They even now have an archive of records available that will allow you to listen to the music without purchasing them. All in all, the thought of purchasing any music that you desire these days is much easier, whether you are shopping online for new or old records or you visiting your local stores. Either way this is something fun to do and something everyone should try at least one time in their life.

Article 4

Title: Electronic Music Record Labels

Electronic music is created from special types of instruments and a number of electric powered based technologies. As an alternative to using regular instruments like a piano or a guitar, this kind of music uses instruments that can be created by either a computer or a sound synthesizer. Since the late 19th century the rise of these music recordings has been a steady one. However, the electronic music record labels had much difficulty in the late 19th century and took a longer time during production, because there weren’t really any computers. There were machines that created music and sounds electronically but they weren’t designed to play back the sounds they created or weren’t meant to be merged with lyrics.

Eventually technology took over and helped to speed up the popularity of the electronic music and since the 21st century is basically the era of technology advancements this music really flourished and became popular. Due to its growing popularity and distinct music style there are now producers who are devoted to only making these sounds. As of such, they are equipped with the newest and most high-tech machines used to create the sounds and will provide opportunities for artists to get signed to their electronic music record labels.

The role of these record labels is basically the same as every other company with the exception that they will produce their own sounds and provide numerous options when an artist wants to find the right one for a particular song. The concept surrounding the creation of electronic sounds and instruments was established a longtime ago and today these are still practiced, but on a more advanced level. The creation of electronic music usually stems from what the artist may want or like or what the record label thinks is popular at the time.

Most record labels that deal with this kind of music usually have a distinct pattern, so they will know how each sound will come across when created from a particular set of machine. They do this to ensure that they are not creating the same thing as everyone else and also to distinguish the music from their competitors. Unlike most studios attached to record labels the electronic ones have two studios and also two sets of technicians. One set of technicians are designated to deal with the recording aspect of the songs and the second set will be responsible for creating the electronic sounds and instruments. They are specially qualified in this field as it takes a person with a certain knowledge base to use and create these distinct sounds. One of our owners runs antifreeze tester.
