Great rock records are a phenomenon. Oh, a lot of good records feature similar ingredients: intelligent song writing, smoking guitars, whiskey-drawl vocals, thick blooded heartbeats from the bass and drums, and good ol’ fashion sing-along choruses about getting out of town on the next ship leavin’ port. But a great rock record has all those things plus a little hard-to-define magic. And I worked at a record store long enough (too long, maybe) to know that when you’re bewitched by a great record, it’s your obligation to proclaim it. So allow me to announce The Tisdales and their debut Baker’s Dozen. A new record has found its way into the coveted rotation.

X Ray Hip, a rock-and-roll band born and brewed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has pulled the needle out of the wax for their debut album, New American Lady!! New American Lady was produced and recorded by the endlessly talented John Munson (Semisonic, Trip Shakespeare, New Standards) and mixed and mastered by Rob Genadek at his Brewhouse Recording Studios in the historic Creation Audio building (one of the first recording studios in Minnesota) in Minneapolis. X Ray Hip’s New American Lady is a product of the British Invasion, 60’s California sound, 70’s American rock ‘n roll, and 80’s outside-the-mainstream, not to mention an enormous helping of the great art and music right here in our own backyard of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
